FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions.

How long do dental crowns last?

With proper care, dental crowns typically last 10-15 years or longer. Zirconia and high-quality ceramic crowns can last 15-20 years. Regular dental check-ups, good oral hygiene, and avoiding hard foods help maximize crown longevity.

Is getting a dental crown painful?

No, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so you won't feel pain during treatment. Some mild sensitivity may occur after the anesthesia wears off, but this typically subsides within a few days. Most patients report minimal discomfort.

What's the difference between a crown and a bridge?

A crown covers a single damaged tooth to restore its shape and strength. A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by using crowns on adjacent teeth as anchors, with artificial teeth (pontics) in between to fill the gap.

Will I get a black line at the gumline?

Not with our modern Zirconia or E-max crowns. The "black line" is common with old metal-ceramic crowns (PFM). We use metal-free materials that look natural even at the gum edge.

Can I eat sticky foods with a crown?

You should avoid very sticky foods (like caramel or sticky candy) as they can pull the crown off. Hard foods (like ice or unpopped kernels) can also chip the ceramic, so caution is advised.

What if my crown feels high or uneven?

If your bite feels "high" or uncomfortable, come back immediately for a quick adjustment. A high crown can cause tooth pain and jaw soreness if left uncorrected.
